The meaning of the word jinayah in language is adz-dzanbu which means sin, and also means al-jarm, which means crime or crime.

The plural form of jinayah is jinayat. So often jinayat is pronounced with jinayah, which has the same meaning, only related to the mention in the singular or plural form.

Meanwhile, in terms, jinayah is defined by Al-Jurjani (w 816 H) in his book At-Ta'rifat as follows:

Al-Hashkafi (d. 1088 H), one of the scholars in the Al-Hanafiyah school of thought in his book, Ad-Dur Al-Mukhtar, defines jinayah as follows:

Actions that are forbidden with wealth and soul.
