The instant verbal translation integrated into the app stopped working recently showing me an error message that it isn't available on my device. Contacted support but they couldn't fix it. Used to be a great feature. Other than that the app is useful for planning and booking your accommodation in many countries. I have traveled more than 15 countries with it and it always showed appropriate locations.
"What's new" above is fuzzy: -⭐. Support is unprofessional: they give trivial/useless suggestions like "it is your browser problem" although i wrote from app (and the subject line says so)🙈: -⭐. Positives: fast, map view with the button "search this area" To improve: a (scary) bug with miscalculation of free cancelation deadlines. When nothing is found on the map due to filters, the map should still be shown (to pan to the new area).
Hostelworld forces you to install the App to complete the booking. That is very inconvenient for the typical user of this App. If you are a traveller with low budget, low battery in the phone, with restrictions in the data you can use, and you just want to complete the booking via browser in mobile phone, you cannot. In my case, there was a problem with mass transport that forced people to rapidly book most rooms. I wasted time installing the App and lost all oportunities that were nearby.
