I've enjoyed Kickstarter for a long time, but the app is only so-so. Push notifications have never worked, uninstall-reinstall included. It's never felt straightforward to see the status of the projects I've backed or keep track of them. Search also doesn't seem to turn up what I'm looking for at the top of the list, even if I search for the exact name. Given the importance of exposure on the platform, I'm guessing they select result order as a combination of search match and desired hype.
Excellent platform. The only reason it doesn't get 5 stars from me is that the navigation is sometimes unintuitive. Pressing back should, in my mind, go to where you just were or to the main feed. Instead, it seems mostly to exit the app. I understand that campaign pages use tabs, but having that be the primary mode of getting around is counter to how every other app works, so I can't (and don't want to) stop using the back button.
The website works a little better than the app or I'd give 5 stars. The app has to have storage and cache cleared every so often or it will start crashing randomly. It also has trouble with changing a payment method if yours was rejected. Kickstarter is hands down the best place to crowdfund most things and especially tabletop games and all of the issues in the app are nonexistent on the website. Overall a great service.
