A tricky strategy game from the Middle Ages. We assume it is the alpine version of the Icelandic Hala Tafl. That is already mentioned in the Grettis saga (14th century).
In contrast to many other board games, Fuchs und Henn' has an asymmetrical task. Different rules apply depending on the game role. The hens are trying to reach their safe coop. The foxes should prevent that.
Users can decide which game role they want to take on.
Game Rules:
The aim of the hens is to occupy the fields in the upper square of the playing field with 9 hens. The aim of the foxes is to prevent this.
The figures are moved alternately by one field along the lines.
The hens have the opening move.
While the foxes are allowed to move in all directions along the lines, the hens are only allowed to move upwards (towards the target), diagonally or to the side.
Hens are caught when a fox "jumps over" them in a straight line. The hen is then removed from play. Multiple jumps are allowed.
If a fox has the opportunity to jump, it must be used. Otherwise, the fox is removed from the game and only reinstated when the remaining fox has managed to jump.
The hens win when they have occupied the 9 squares in the top square or the fox can't make any more moves.
The foxes win when they catch 12 hens or the hens can't make any more moves.

Alpen-KI: The program is the start of a project to develop adaptive software. The current version works according to a simple algorithm in which fields and potentials are evaluated. Future releases are to be expanded to include the ability to learn.
