In Tales of Wind: Radiant Rebirth, players will be able to obtain various types of pets that you can use for different purposes, each with their own quirks and beautiful forms that players can admire and help you in various different situations. These pets can be mainly divided into 2 different types of pets: Mounts & Guardians, each with their own important mechanics that you need to understand to be able to distinguish between the 2 different types and each with their own role in your journey.
Mounts
Mounts are special pets in Tales of Wind: Radiant Rebirth that allow players to ride on them in order to explore in the overworld, with each mount allowing you to have special effects and passive that boost your ability to explore in the overworld.
Mounts are considered a fashion accessory in the game and does not affect your combat stats when obtaining or equipping them, however, they offer players a lot of overworld exploration benefits like extra movement speed when exploring in the overworld.
Mounts can be temporary or permanent and players can obtain mounts like with other fashion items by completing certain events or by faring specific stages in the game. Due to them not having an actual effect in combat, players can change mounts to their heart content without worrying that different mounts will have different effects on their combat performances.
Guardians
Unlike Mounts which are considered fashion items and can be obtained easily through various in game events and only have an effect on exploration, Guardians are pets that will directly help the players during their battles by attacking the enemies, buffing the user or debuffing the enemies so that players can have an easier time when challenging raids and bosses with teams.
Guardians can be obtained by obtaining special eggs that will eventually hatch into guardians after a certain amount of time has passed. Players can obtain these eggs through completing story missions and through special in-game events that give powerful pets. The rarity of the pets hatched from these eggs are determined randomly, however, certain eggs have a better chance of granting more powerful guardians. The eggs are divided into 3 different types of pets: fairies, plants and animals.
Fairies guardians are balanced in nature with abilities to summon multiple other pets to help players in battle and aid the player by providing them with useful buffs.
Plants guardians are more supported in nature with their ability to buff allies and heal the user whenever they are in danger, some plant pets even have AoE healing skill for the entire party.
Animal guardians are more offensive in nature with their ability to deal damage to the enemies and aid players massively with their debuffs against the enemy hoards.
Unlike Mounts, Guardians plays a massively important role in the game progression and will require players to pay attention and upgrade them massively in order to be able to boost their ability to be a better aid to the players when fighting against raids and bosses in the game.

Another feature of Tales of Wind aside from the pet system in terms of Mounts and Guardians that players can obtain to use in exploration and fight alongside you in battles is the special Monster Card system that allows players to transform into the different monsters that they have defeated in battle.
Monster Cards
The Monster Cards can be obtained through battling and defeating special monsters in the story of the game or through dungeons and raids that require a good party of people to complete. Once obtained, these Monster Cards can be embedded into your equipment, granting special effects and stat buffs that boost your offensive and defensive abilities.
These Monster Cards are divided into different rarities when obtained, with the higher rarity cards granting more powerful effects and passives to the players when in battle and embedded into their equipment, allowing the player to deal even more damage with the higher rarity cards they obtain.
Due to the fact that Monster Cards can be obtained from specific monsters and events, players can far a monster or a dungeon multiple times to try and obtain higher rarity cards as much as possible.
Monster Transformation
When equipping the different Monster Cards onto the MC’s equipment, players will be able to equip the Monster Card onto the weapon of the character, granting the character the ability to transform into the monster whose monster card was embedded into the character’s weapon. Please note that only by embedding the desired Monster Card into the character’s weapon will this effect be triggered, otherwise, players won’t be able to trigger the monster transformation.
When in battle, players can trigger the Monster Transformation by clicking on the Monster Icon above the Skill icons and transform into the Monster for a set amount of time. The duration you can transform varies depending on the rarity of the Monster Card and the monster you are transforming into.
Once transformed, players will take the form of the monster with a separate HP bar and different skills to use depending on the Monster the player transforms into, with higher rarity Monsters providing up to 4 different skills to use during the Transformation. When transforming, even when your HP bar drops to 0, you will simply exit the transformation stage and won’t be able to transform for a while instead of fully being defeated.
